Dr. Fauci Gives Pro-LGBT Statement As Mike Pence, Um, Looks On

Former Indiana Governor/Department store mannequin and current Vice President Mike Pence is famous for, among other things, the wild mishandling of an HIV/AIDS crisis in his own state. Now, he's been largely put in charge by President Trump of handling a medical crisis that is affecting the entire United States. It's ... not been a good start, and it keeps getting worse.

Luckily, we've had the benefit of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who's served under six presidents as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and is actually leading the nation's charge against the coronavirus. He's seen more than a couple of major outbreaks of infectious diseases in his day, not the least of which was the poorly-handled HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s. His research into AIDS and other autoimmune diseases will remain a huge part of his legacy.

A few days ago, Dr. Fauci finished some remarks, then came back to the podium to address how the coronavirus is affecting the African-American population and had this to say:

He points out that he sees a similarity between how the gay community responded with strength and resilience to the AIDS crisis and how we can respond to this coronavirus now. For a group that often had to often deal with that crisis with minimal support, highlighting their struggle during that time is huge. Dr. Fauci probably didn't mean for his remarks to come down as windmill dunk on Pence, but to so highly commend the gay community right in front of a Vice President that handles gay-rights and AIDS issues like he was teleported from a creepy 1950s PSA is a nice W.

And right now, we should take those where we can get 'em.
