'Saturday Night Live': Jennifer Aniston Once Told Off Lorne Michaels Over SNL 'Boys Club'

Reader, what if I told you that in a parallel universe Jennifer Aniston, instead of being an A++ list actress (as Deuxmoi puts it) was an A++ list comedian. That instead of starring as Rachel Green on Friends and all of our favorite romcoms, she was a legendary humorist akin to Gilda Radner, Tina Fey, or Amy Poehler? 

Well, folks, it seems this fictitious universe was nearly our own. Before heading down the path of sitcom acting, Aniston almost landed on the small screen comedy staple, meeting with longtime SNL overlord, Lorne Michaels early in her career. Yet instead of vying for a slot on the show, as roughly 99.4% of actors would do if given a moment with the legendary producer, it seems the star had a different agenda. In a move that singlehandedly inspired the existence of every single pink, erm, kitty hat and Jake Gyllenhaal's incriminating “F--k The Patriarchy” keychain immortalized in the re-release of “All Too Well," the actress marched into Michaels' office ready to fight for women's rights. 

“I was so young and dumb and I went into Lorne’s office and I was like, ‘I hear women are not respected on this show.’” the star recalled in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t remember exactly what I said next, but it was something like, ‘I would prefer if it were like the days of Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin,'" she continued. “I mean, it was such a boys’ club back then, but who the fuck was I to be saying this to Lorne Michaels?!” 

However, it seems the two ultimately buried the hatchet – tossing in her disdain for SNL for good measure. “Adorably that happened and I’ve hosted Saturday Night Live a couple of times,” she recalled. "And I love it so much.”

So, folks, it seems that all's well that ends well … on SNL.
