Just days following her latest controversy, evidently serving as a fashion icon for an alleged capitol insurrectionist, nostalgic pop star Lana Del Rey has singlehandedly sparked yet another internet uproar -- this time with her apparent love of iPhone photo editing apps.
… and begging some more for Del Rey to go with another image to represent her work, fans were clearly unhappy with the cover.
However, it seems this blowback has expanded beyond social media, with some supporters even launching a petition to rip the amateur editing software from Del Rey’s hands. “Lana had terrorized just way too long with these edits, we need to stop her,” reads the description of the “BAN LANA FROM PICSART” petition. “Sign this for a future of quality album covers from Lana again.” As of writing, the Change.org cause has garnered more than 3,700 signatures, more than halfway to its goal of 5,000.
Amid the controversy, it seems one party has found a way to make lemons out of this proverbial Lemonade, or well, Blue Bannisters– none other than the app of the hour, PicsArt. “Speaking of album covers,” they wrote with a wink, linking to a DIY for how those of us at home can also create the artwork for out highly-anticipated eighth studio albums.
So folks, remember if you're short on time and are looking to spark an internet-wide controversy, look no further than PicsArt. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be adding borders and hearts to all of my photos – it's the Lana Del Way.
