16 Filmmakers Who Actually Apologized For Their Work

Batman and Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher, is largely viewed among the worst super hero movies of all time, and while it would be lovely to argue that it has gotten easier to watch with time and that the level of hatred it has received is unjustified, it's not, and it genuinely isn't. Gene Siskel called the film a "snickering, tiresome, overproduced extravaganza," and the bulk of his contemporaries concurred.

Apologies, or any true recognition of wrongdoing, are hard to come by in Hollywood, which is full of egomaniacal narcissists. It's always the fault of someone else. That's why it's so much more meaningful when a filmmaker genuinely admits, "My bad."
